Patient Care Levels Decision parameters for moving to the next lower level.
 - Acute Hospitals  - Parameters for D/C ? (Can the level of care be provided at a different level ?)
 - Acute Rehab  - Same as Acute Hospitals ex HS, GW acute rehab (rehab hospitals), drake, others in cinci.
 - Hospital TCU / Subacute - 3 day rule - usu a waiting list for NHs. Can't take care of pt at home. NHs have long waiting lists. If at hospital and needs NH then Mom is first in line. So - gotta get Mom to the hospital. Medicare know system is being gamed. DRG - flat rate of problem. Medicare - must prove Mom is sick enough to be in hospital and must be there for 3 days to keep patients from coming to hospital for 3 days. Long term care beds are not paid for by Medicare. Hosptals would get DRG for illness for the 12 hours and pt would be to NH - Medicare doesn't allow this. Medicare pays for people who are getting better, no for long term care. When no longer improving then you flip into pay status -> go home and get home health (Medicare pays for HH).  Bottom line - the most you can get out of Medicare is about 21 days. We don't see this at Village Care. If qualifies for Medicade must get rid of your house within 6 months.

Baptist Village and Rosedale Green are not for profit.
Florence Park, Madonna Manor - church affiliation, not for profit.  Built along new model for nursing homes there is some changing of long term care and how long term care is evolving over time. The older ones like look like a hospital.
